PIL Winter League Basketball Tryouts for 6th-8th grade boys will be November 8th & 9th!
Registration and clearance forms are REQUIRED for participation. See PIL website to register and required forms HERE .
PPS/PIL (Portland Interscholastic League) coordinates 6th-8th Teams during the Winter Season. Cleveland will select TWO teams per grade level, from tryouts, to compete in the PIL League. Cleveland PIL boys teams are directed by CHS Varsity Head Coach, Sam Glasgow and coached by Cleveland PIL coaches. Development within the PIL league is essential to a players growth within the Cleveland High School basketball program. Aspiring athletes will learn team concepts, set plays and expectations unique to CHS, as well as build chemistry with future CHS teammates.
6th Grade REC Winter Basketball
Typically, because of the high turnout for PIL boys basketball tryouts, at the 6th grade level, The Cleveland Youth Basketball program may organize ONE 6th Grade recreational team to play in the Portland Parks & Rec Goldenball League. Some players who ATTENDED PIL tryouts, that were NOT selected for a PIL team, may be selected to play on the Cleveland recreational team. Volunteer Coach is needed for 6th Grade Rec. Details will be shared with selected players after PIL tryouts have concluded.

Basketball in the off season is coordinated by the Cleveland Basketball Youth Program. Cleveland Basketball is a 501c-3 community non profit, working closely with Varsity Head Coach, Sam Glasgow and in support of the CHS Boys Basketball program.
Cleveland Basketball is NOT supported financially by PPS or PIL organizations. We are an equal opportunity program, offering quality basketball, year round, to young athletes in our community. We strive to keep costs as affordable as possible and understand that participation in sports is not always financially attainable for everyone. Our program depends on the generosity of our community to offer low cost and no cost options to those in need.
Ability to PAY does NOT determine ability to PLAY!
Please consider a donation to our scholarship fund, to support the development of young athletes in our community. All donations are greatly appreciated!
