PPS/PIL (Portland Interscholastic League) coordinates 6th-8th Teams during the Winter Season. Please see the PIL website for PIL Winter League tryout registration, required forms and details at https://www.pilsports.org/middle-school-program/
TRYOUTS: Cleveland coaching staff will select two teams, per grade level, from tryouts, to compete in the PIL League. Cleveland PIL boys teams are directed by CHS Varsity Head Coach, Terrance Dickens and coached by Cleveland PIL coaches. Development within the PIL league is essential to a players growth within the Cleveland High School basketball program. Aspiring athletes will learn team concepts, set plays and expectations unique to CHS, as well as build chemistry with future CHS teammates.
6th & 7th Grade
REC Winter Basketball
The Cleveland Youth Basketball program, organizes ONE 6th Grade recreational team to play in the Portland Parks & Rec Goldenball League, and one 7th Grade Rec team during the winter season. Volunteer parent coaches are required for each team. Players that attend tryouts, that are NOT selected for a PIL team, may be selected to play on a Cleveland recreational team. Details will be shared with selected players after PIL tryouts have concluded.
*NOTE: Recreational teams are not facilitated by, sustained, or supported financially by PPS or PIL organizations. REC team organization & registration is coordinated by The Cleveland Youth Program, a volunteer driven, community non-profit 501c-3 organization. info@cleveland-warriors.com

Fall Basketball is organized by the Cleveland Youth Basketball Program, not sponsored by or organized by the school district or PIL league

SUMMER
Due to the Cleveland High School Remodel, the CHS gym will not be available for Youth Camps. We are coordinating with Cleveland AD and our coaches to host Summer Youth camps and basketball opportunities at the Marshall campus.
SPRING 2027
The Cleveland Basketball Program organizes Spring Warrior Prep teams and clinics for middle school athletes.
Basketball in the off season is coordinated by the Cleveland Basketball Youth Program. Cleveland Basketball is a 501c-3 community non profit, working closely with Varsity Head Coach, Sam Glasgow and in support of the CHS Boys Basketball program.
Cleveland Basketball is NOT supported financially by PPS or PIL organizations. We are an equal opportunity program, offering quality basketball, year round, to young athletes in our community. We strive to keep costs as affordable as possible and understand that participation in sports is not always financially attainable for everyone. Our program depends on the generosity of our community to offer low cost and no cost options to those in need.
Ability to PAY does NOT determine ability to PLAY!

Future Cleveland Warriors
At Cleveland, we actively invest in our youth and the future of our program by offering opportunities for our young community members to learn and grow the Warrior Way.
This spring, we will offer a competitive team with highly qualified coaches at the both the 7th and 8th grade levels. Head Coach Sam Glasgow and staff will also be running weekly clinics for our 6th-8th grade Future Warriors.
